These classes for Adults are designed to be safe, effective and fun. Keeping constantly up to date with developments in the fitness and dance industry, striving to maintain interest and motivation. You also can be assured that if you are attending a specialist class the teacher is experienced and appropriately qualified to teach that class.

You may participate from age 16 unaccompanied and from 14 years accompanied by an adult. There is no upper age limit and general classes are very mixed in age.

PILATES

TUESDAYS - MARLOW 7.00pm from 9th January (5 weeks £50)

FRIDAYS - MARLOW 10.50am - from 5th January (6 weeks £60)

classes are 55 minutes long.

Pilates trains your  powerhouse muscles - the core, glutes and pelvic floor - to develop muscle tone and full body awareness. You repeat the exercises to build strength, balance & flexibility.

You move in all planes of the body – twisting, rotating & flexing.

It’s founder – Joesph Pilates once said -  “You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions"

Our class is a Mat class – we do use small equipment such as bands, circles and balls but not always.

 It supports your other training

It corrects muscle imbalances – leading to  injury prevention and a stronger body.

It improves posture, flexibility  & core strength  It improves overall body strength and balance too - If you struggle with balance, core workouts are the answer. The stronger your core muscles are, the sturdier you will be on your feet.

Pilates reduces cortisol in the body, which helps burn fat.

Belly fat or highly resistant belly fat is usually a result of cortisol being present in the body. The more stressed you are, the higher your level of cortisol and the higher the chance of developing stubborn belly fat. Pilates is a type of exercise that reduces stress levels, thus reducing cortisol levels. This makes it easier to burn belly fat.

Pilates is low-impact on joints, high-impact on results and unlike aerobics, dancing, or running, Pilates goes easy on the joints. The movements are slow and non-jarring. As a result, you can yield exceptional physical results without putting your joints under any stress and strain.

Pilates, although not Yoga, has similar mind benefits, boosting  mental health and mindfulness & reconnecting you with your breath

YOGA

Tuesdays at Court Garden Leisure Centre (drop in, book through the Leisure centre) 11.00am, 60 minutes - take this opportunity to learn how to connect to your practice and express yourself through breath, movement and meditation on your mat. For everybody and all bodies. From 9th January

BALLET

THURSDAYS 10am from 11th January - Marlow Youth Centre - all levels - face to face class with Claire Learn or come back to this wonderful dance form. (required: ballet shoes and own mat) -

‘Heels’ '‘Jazz’

Heels is a technique class taken in heels (or trainers) to learn this evolving and exciting new dance style, you will work all your muscles but it is not a cardio workout.

Jazz is an energetic class learning routines and technique whilst experiencing a great all round cardio workout during this class

These classes are usually run as occasional workshops on Thursday evenings at 7.30 - if you are interested in a more permanent arrangement please get in touch.
