Lockdown Diary, 2

As ever we now find ourselves in week 10 and I never finished this entry!! No surprise there, so lets go back a little……….

Week 7 and everything could be about to change again. By Sunday we may have a better idea of how the government propose to ease us out of this. Lockdown, although brutal, was relatively easy by comparison - we just simply stopped……….

This is altogether harder. We hope the world we emerge into will be a softer, kinder, slower version of itself. But what if instead it is harsher, less considerate and a place where we are all simply fearful of one another?

Week 8

The latest government announcement leaves us more confused than ever.

Personally; it seems I could sell my house and have numerous strangers in my house touching and enjoying a little outing, I can sit in a park with 200 or more strangers embracing their germs; but I cannot sit in the garden at a distance and be with my daughters or close friends whom I know have been sensibly isolating for the duration.

Professionally; all stays the same. Online has got into a rhythm for us as teachers. Acceptance from adults adapting well to the new ways to connect and socialise. For some young people its still less easy and we feel for them as they navigate this strange new platform.

Ending with a positive. Middle daughter facilitated for the family to participate in a 4 week gratitude challenge - a weekly or daily round up of everything positive that has happened in our lives. When you stop to think - just for 10 - 15 minutes- its amazing how very much there is to be truly thankful for. Some prompts to get going:

5 ways I can share my gratitude today - example - share a smile, make someone a cup of tea, write a letter, make a phone call , watering the plants, washing the dishes.

What skills or abilities are you thankful to have?

What is there about a challenge you are experiencing right now that you can be thankful for?

Write about a person in your life you are especially grateful for and why?

stay safe everyone
